In this article, I am writing about the Smush plugin. Image is a very important part of websites and blogs. In the current scenario, most people don’t like plain articles.

If you include some images, it creates more interest in the article. And most importantly, images play a very important role to understand the content.

This is an amazing feature of the smush plugin. You can optimize and compress your images in bulk. When you install and activate, by default you may get the Bulk Smush option on the plugin area.

If not, simply you just need to go to Smush>Bulk smush on the left sidebar menu. Now you will have a Bluk smush screen. There will be mentioned how many attachments need bulk smushing.

You just need to click on BULK SMUSH NOW. It will take a few moments to complete the process.

Lazy Load - Smush Plugin

Lazy load is a very useful feature of the smush plugin. With this feature, your page loads faster. It also fixes defer offscreen images.

There are multiple settings for which you choose for the lazy load. Some of these are the following.

  • Media Type – You can choose the media types for the lazy load.
  • Output Location – By default smush plugin lazy loads all the images available on your site. But you have the option to choose them. Four options are there to select or deselect- Content, Widgets, Post Thumbnail, and Gravatars.
  • Display and Animation – There is some pre-display option, which you can choose.
  • Include/Exclude – You can choose the post types.
  • Scripts – You can set this option also.
  • Native lazy load – you can enable or disable native lazy load.

Another feature of the smush plugin is Directory Smush. As you may know, smush will compress and optimize images on your WordPress site. But with this feature, you can also smush non-WordPress images.

in this way, you can smush images that are not available in your upload directory. Menas Smush plugin is useful to smush non-WordPress images also.

Pro versions of the Smush plugin provide you with more features. If you want to opt for some advanced features of this plugin, you can go for PRO.
