The sidebar is an important and integral part of your website. You can use the sidebar to display more items, like the recent posts, social media, categories, etc. But if you want to remove the sidebar from a static page, you may have your reasons.
If you use some extra items on your sidebar, it helps to engage visitors. If visitors see some more information, usually may click on some of them. But if don’t want that your visitor gets distracted from the main content, you can remove it.
You should have a sidebar or not, it may also depend on the kind of website you have. If want to show only the main content, then there is no need to display the sidebar. There might be multiple reasons for removing the sidebar.
Let’s discuss how can you remove the sidebar from a static page in WordPress.
Remove Sidebar from a Static Page in WordPress
First login to your WordPress dashboard and click on Pages. Now click on All Pages and open the list of all the pages on your site. Select the page from where you want to remove the sidebar.
Now you will be redirected to the page editor. There is a Page Attribute option on the right sidebar menu. You just click on the drop-down arrow of the page attribute.
Click on the template option and select full width. If there is no full-width option, then maybe your them doesn’t have this option. Or there may be a separate theme setting option, from where you can select No Sidebar or Full width.
If you don’t have the option, then you can do it through a page builder like elementor also. As you can see in the above image. In this case, I am using Elemetor page builder. And there is an option of Elementor Full Width.
If don’t want to use a page builder and theme also don’t have the option, then you can also create your own template to remove the sidebar from a static page.
- Login to Your WordPress Website’s Dashboard
- Click on Pages on the lefts sidebar.
- Click on pages.
- Select the static page which you want to change.
- Hover on it and clik on edit button.
- Go to Page Attribute that on right side sidebar.
- Click on drop-down arrow og page attribute.
- Select Elementor full width (In case using elementor page builder) or full width.
- Click on Update.
In this way, you can remove the sidebar from a static page in WordPress.
In the same way, you can also remove the sidebar from the posts also. You just need to select a post instead of a page. There are pros and cons to having a sidebar on your website.
Sidebar mostly located left or right or below the main content. You can place where you want to show your sidebar on your site. But most people use it on the left or right side of the content.
